Thanksgiving, Pumpkin Pie and Wine

The penny has dropped for most of you that The Blue Stoops is owned by a brewery, Samuel Allsopp & Sons, est 1730. And serves the finest hand-pulled, pro-biotic cask ale known to humanity. We literally invented the IPA style. Just saying.

Possibly less well-known is our deep and abiding commitment to properly great wine. By way of example, this Thanksgiving we have brought in as well as ‘dug deep’ in the Stoops cellar and blown the dust off a few American treasures which have now, as always, been hand-written into the Blue Book, our list of more profound wines. We've included some of our selected few below for you to consider, all of which are quite spectacular if we do say so ourselves.

Book your table today here - our Turkey with full Yankee trimmings and Jake's Pumpkin Pie (quite a serious item) will be served at both lunch and dinner on Thursday 27th November.

Blue Book Wines for Thanksgiving

Domaine de la Côte ‘Memorius’ Pinot Noir 2023

A legendary winery that we have a very small parcel of in the cellar. This Pinot is highly acclaimed for its vibrant red fruit, complex herbal and earthy notes, and elegant, structured palate

Mayacamas Chardonnay 2022

Another icon, this time from Napa, It is made from grapes grown on high-elevation, mountain-top vineyards and is aged in French oak, resulting in a complex wine with notes of citrus, white flowers, and a long, mineral-driven finish.

Piedrasassi, Santa Maria valley, Bien Nacido Vinyard, Syrah 2015

While not as famous as its sibling Domaine de la côte, this cool climate syrah is highly sought after by those in the know, known for its elegant, full-bodied style with complex aromas and flavours. It features notes of blackcurrant, black pepper, and floral hints, with a palate that is both rich and refreshing, often showing savoury, earthy, and minty accents.

Kutch, Falsaff Vinyard, Sanoma coast Pinot noir 2021

A celebrated vintage, this is a single-vineyard wine from the Sonoma Coast, known for its intense, balanced, and vibrant profile. It features bright red fruit, floral, and mineral notes, with a savory, long, and precise finish.

Corison, St Helena, Napa Valley, Cabernet Sauvignon 2021

A totally seductive, fresh, and vibrant 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from Cathy Corison, showcasing fragrant black cherry and blue fruit aromatics, a hint of liquorice and incense, and toasty cedarwood. Medium to full-bodied, with silky boysenberry fruit, satiny tannins, and a spine of tantalising acidity, and a long mineral-rich finish lifted by tangerine peel and grapefruit zest.

Racines Sta Rita Hills cuvée, Pinot noir 2019

Racines is the result of a bold partnership between Burgundy’s Étienne de Montille and Brian Sieve and Champagne’s Rodolphe Peters. A bold and punchy, super-expressive Pinot with lovely aromatic nuance to play off the dark cherry and plum fruit.

Au Bon Climat Chardonnay 2023

From one of California’s top-rated vineyards, this outstanding Chardonnay displays fleshy brioche and ripe citrus flavours. Made in more of a Burgundian style rather than the big, rich, overly oaked examples that are becoming past fashionable.  Beautifully constructed, fresh pear and white peach scents are sharpened by citrus notes.
