Further Grounds for Optimism as the Chasm of January Opens Before Us

Last year I issued a rather Apocalyptic New Year's note, offering a binary choice. Go dry? Or punch on through to Spring…

While either remains an option at The Stoops at all times (friend of the Stoops Charlie McVeigh is rarely seen without a pint of NA Mash Gang Chug 0.5%) this year we'd rather mention a few up-coming ‘reasons to be cheerful’.

1. Tap Room Prices is back.

All* cask ales are available at £4/pint from 2nd - 15th January. See you at the bar! More info here on this important matter.

2. Burns Supper

Hector Henderson, Head Chef at Rochelle Canteen is cooking with our very own Jacob Farley for Burns Night on 25th Jan. Book here. A deep-fried Mars Bar may be involved (full menu to follow on 5th Jan).

3. New Set Menu

On Monday 5th January we launch our first lunch prix-fixe menu: £20 for 2 courses, £25 for 3 courses. Weekdays only, Noon -3pm. You should receive an email on the 5th Jan detailing what’s on that week’s menu, keep an eye out.

4. New Year, New Beer

We are launching a new January special, Allsopp’s Light Dinner Ale today. At 3.2% it is a January dream-beer and one which goes especially brilliantly with, well, dinner. And, being a glorious cask ale, as per point 1, it will be £4/pint until 15th Jan.

5. Henry Harris at The Stoops

Looking further ahead, we are celebrating the launch of Henry Harris’s new cookbook, The Racine Effect, on 8th April with a dinner cooked by the Bouchon Racine chef and our Jacob Farley. Reply to this email to be put on list to receive a pre-sale link when we have it ready.

*The exception being Arctic Ale, which at 11% is £4 for a half. Subject to availability. More on Arctic Ale here.
