Christmas at The Blue Stoops Launches

Like Ebeneezer Scrooge, it's possible to blow a bit hot and cold about Christmas, especially in September. The low moment in A Christmas Carol might be in Chapter One when he explodes at his nephew Fred's coming expressly to wish him the joy of the season: "Every idiot who goes about with 'Merry Christmas' on hislips, should be boiled with his own pudding, and buried with a stake of hollythrough his heart. He should!"

Notwithstanding, deep down we of course love Christmas. After all, it is the time of year when even the pub 'part-timer' suddenly sees the point of a proper lunch. And you would have to be very pre-transformed-Scrooge indeed to begrudge a lad or lass that.

On a deeper level (and with the customary apologies), we see the Stoops as somewhere whichhas the ultimate goal of honouring the spirit of Christmas all year. There arenot that many other venues in town which combine frothing pints of Allsopp'sale, aged Madeira, out-sized bottles of Claret and the finest roasted meats. And all served up with a genuine warmth and good cheer in an interior redolentof restrained Victoriana. But then I would say that!

Should youwish to enjoy a brimming glass of Stoopsian yuletide conviviality, you might trouble yourself to click here to see what we have to offer for the season of good will. We have been somewhat taken aback by the early demand, so don't miss out!
